Investment Planning

AJHFS offers a holistic approach to investment planning. Our expertise in this particular area is widely recognised and we are able to offer advice in a broad range of areas including bank and building society deposits, unit trusts, OEICS, Bonds, Venture Capital Trusts and structured investments.

We also offer an on-going review programme which allows clients to monitor their investments on an on-going basis both in terms of provider choice and asset allocation.

Asset allocation is crucial both in terms of reacting to changing markets but also in terms of ensuring that an investment portfolio is commensurate with an individual client's attitude to investment risk.

Some clients are prepared to risk capital in an effort to achieve reasonable investment returns. Others are not.

The choice of investment funds is vast ~ UK Equities, European Equities, Global Equities, UK Fixed Interest, International Fixed Interest, Emerging Markets, Property, Technology are all sectors into which investments can be made. Each sector has its merits but it is important to ensure that the risks and the rewards are completely understood.

Past performance is not necessarily a guide to the future. The value of your investments and the level of income from them may go down as well as up and you may not get back the amount originally invested. If the Fund you choose invests in overseas markets, changes in foreign exchange rates may cause the value of your investment to rise or fall.

Estate Planning

Estate Planning (and specifically the mitigation of Inheritance Taxation) has always been one of our major strengths.

We have a wide range of planning tools including the ability to insure any potential Inheritance Taxation liability, to remove any future investment gains from an Estate whilst leaving the original capital intact (a Loan Trust) and also the ability to utilise what is commonly known as a Discounted Gift Trust which can offer an immediate and substantial saving in Inheritance Taxation whilst at the same time allowing the client to retain an income from the capital invested within the Trust.

Other mechanisms are available which can allow assets to be removed from an Estate for Inheritance Taxation purposes after a period of 2 years rather than after the conventionally accepted period of 7 years.
